Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) is a treatment which involves shockwaves being passed through the skin to the injured part of the body.
The shockwaves are produced by a projectile that is propelled at high velocity inside a hand-held applicator. When the applicator is placed on the surface of the skin, the impulses spread through the tissue as a ‘radial’ wave, which initiates an inflammatory response to the site of injury. This triggers the body to heal naturally by increasing blood circulation, reducing pain perception, and increasing cell regeneration.
Our Shockwave Machine
Foot Medical Centre uses the latest in Radial Shockwave Technology by employing the Swiss Doroclast Smart 20 with the Evo Blue hand piece. This shockwave machine delivers 1000-2000 impulses at 4 to 20 hertz per treatment, in a safe, comfortable and effective way.
What are the benefits?
- No need for anaesthesia (no needles)
- Non-invasive procedure
- No need for surgery or medication
- Transient analgesic effect after treatment
- No loss of mobility or time away from work
- Strong clinical results

- Plantar fasciitis
- Heel spur Syndrome
- Posterior heel pain
- Achilles tendonitis
- Metatarsalgia
